NEET 2024: MBBS in Hindi – An Initiative by MP, UP, and Uttarakhand

Medical education in India is undergoing a significant transformation as states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand take the initiative to offer medical studies in Hindi. This move follows the example set by several other countries that provide medical education in their national language.

The government has recognized the need to make medical education more accessible to students who are more comfortable studying in Hindi. To facilitate this, English medium books are being translated into Hindi by experts. In Madhya Pradesh, three books have already been translated for the MBBS first-year curriculum.

One individual, Dr. Manohar Lal Bhandari, has been advocating for Hindi medium studies in MBBS for the past 32 years. His relentless efforts have earned him a place in the high commission committee responsible for translating English medium books into Hindi. Dr. Bhandari submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister back on October 28, 1991, urging the introduction of Hindi medium MBBS education.

Currently, many Hindi medium students face difficulties when they join MBBS colleges that use English as the medium of instruction. The use of medical terminologies in English poses a significant challenge for these students. By offering medical education in Hindi, students will have a better understanding of these terms and be able to perform better in their exams.

This initiative by Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand to introduce Hindi medium MBBS education is a significant step towards inclusivity and ensuring that students from diverse linguistic backgrounds have equal opportunities to pursue their dreams of becoming medical professionals
